In support of the television premiere of Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric, National Geographic and Picture Motion are partnering to launch a free screening series across the U.S. The Gender Revolution Tour invites all universities, high schools, and nonprofits to request a free DVD of the film, along with a comprehensive discussion guide full of resources, to continue the conversation on understanding gender and identity in 2017.
In honor of World Cancer Day, Feb. 4, Holland America Line is proud to announce that to date, the guests and employees of the company have raised more than $5 million for cancer support through "On Deck" programming that began in 2006. Currently the "On Deck" for a Cause program benefits six international cancer organizations located in the United States, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Barclays is leading the way in recruiting, retaining and retraining older workers and is one of the first UK businesses to support the new government scheme 'Business Champion for Older Workers'.
The initiative, launched by Business in the Community, aims to find tangible solutions for businesses to retrain older workers and help them stay in work. The employment rate for working age adults is at a record high of almost 75%, but for people over 60, this falls to around 50%.
Early this year McKinsey and LeanIn.org released their Women in the Workplace report, which found that women remain underrepresented across organizations—especially at senior levels of leadership. According to the report, women “experience an uneven playing field, with their odds of advancement lower at every level; there is a persistent leadership gap in the most senior roles; gender diversity is not widely believed to be a priority; and while employee programs designed to help balance work and family are abundant, participation is low among both sexes due to concerns that using them will negatively affect their careers.”
