General Motors contributed a small part in fueling this movement through the donation of its steel shipping crates repurposed as raised garden beds. Five years later, 2,000 of the automaker’s crates are home to plantings in 33 different gardens.

Through the 2017 Share the Love Event, from November 16, 2017, to January 2, 2018, Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased to the customer's choice of the four national charities, including Meals on Wheels America, with a minimum guarantee of $250,000. In addition to these partners, Subaru retailers have selected hundreds of hometown charities for their customers to support as well. By the end of this year, Subaru and its participating retailers will have donated over $115 million to help those in need.
