Univision Communications Announces Strategic Expansion of Corporate Social Responsibility Efforts and Creation of External Corporate Social Responsibility Council
NEW YORK, April 4, 2016 /3BL Media/ – Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced the creation of a new Univision Corporate Social Responsibility Council, and an external Corporate Social Responsibility Advisory Board, as well as a realignment and expansion of the Company’s Community Empowerment and Social Impact teams.
Jessica Herrera-Flanigan, executive vice president of Government & Corporate Affairs, and Chad Boettcher, senior vice president of Social Impact, will lead the Council. Herrera-Flanigan and Boettcher will also co-chair the external Corporate Social Responsibility Advisory Board of leaders from the private sector, non-profits, community organizations, and foundations to help guide UCI’s efforts.

In her expanded role, Herrera-Flanigan will continue to lead UCI’s Washington D.C. office and assume responsibility for all of the Company’s community empowerment and CSR efforts, including Univision Contigo. Her team will include Ivelisse Estrada, senior vice president, Corporate Relations & Community Empowerment, who will continue her efforts on civic and community engagement; Steven Levine, who will assume the newly created role of vice president, Corporate Social Responsibility, and will be responsible for coordinating the efforts of the Council and our Contigo initiatives; and Ron Estrada, who will take on an expanded role as vice president, National Community Empowerment, and will be responsible for coordinating programming with national partners and local community empowerment managers. Ron will also be responsible for coordinating the CSR Advisory Board’s operations.
Chad Boettcher, who recently joined FUSION after leading pro-social efforts at Participant Media, Nike, and MTV, will manage engagement with foundations, non-governmental organizations, and key brands in support of UCI’s work to educate, engage and impact viewers in more effective ways. Boettcher will also serve as managing director of Rise Up, the Company's new social impact unit that will oversee the development and execution of content and campaigns for UCI’s media assets across platforms. Stephen Keppel will assume an expanded role as Vice President, Social Impact and Deputy Managing Director of Rise Up.
The newly formed Corporate Social Responsibility Council will bring together key leaders from across UCI, including executives from Human Resources, Marketing, Communications, Strategy, Sales, Legal, Distribution and Local Media to ensure that the Company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR), community empowerment and social impact initiatives align with the Company’s mission, clients and the diverse communities it serves.
