Bank of America Merrill Lynch Awarded First LEED CI Platinum Certification in France
In a collaborative effort by CBRE’s French and Spanish offices, Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Paris HQ has been awarded Platinum, the highest possible grade under the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) for the Commercial Interiors (CI) scheme by the US Green Building Council, It is the first time an office has achieved this accolade in France!
CBRE’s WorkSpace and Sustainability teams have been working together to improve the sustainability performance of Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s (BoAML) Paris and Madrid Headquarters, which has resulted in this certification.
Today, BoAML’s operations are on a path to become more environmentally sustainable. Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, cutting paper and water consumption, diverting more waste from landfill through recycling and composting, and occupying greener buildings that are LEED-certified are some aspects of BoAML’s strategy to reinforce responsible business operations and environmental stewardship, whilst reducing operating costs.
Goals relating to this strategy, and associated year-on-year performance, are regularly reported through the company’s annual Corporate Responsibility Report, and in 2015, BoAML exceeded its goal to reach 20 percent LEED certified square footage in its workspace.
LEED is a globally recognized standard identifying achievement in green building design, construction, and operations encompassing multiple environmental areas such as water and energy efficiency, sustainable purchasing, and effective waste management.
Through integrating LEED certification into its project and property management processes, BoAML has now achieved 23 percent of LEED-certified workspace in its portfolio, accounting for almost 19 million square feet of occupied space.
This project was a great success, and demonstrates CBRE’s fantastic ability for cross-border, multi-service line collaboration.
