Arby’s Kicks Off 2015 National Restaurant Fundraiser To Help End Childhood Hunger in America
Guests can donate inside Arby’s® restaurants from August 3-Sept. 13; for every $1 donated, the Arby’s Foundation provides up to ten meals to children in need
Atlanta, August 3, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Childhood hunger lives in communities large and small across the country, with no regard for geographic or demographic boundaries. In an effort to raise awareness to this issue and help end childhood hunger in America, Arby’s® restaurants are teaming up with their guests to make a difference. Starting today through Sept. 13, 2015, the Brand is hosting the 2015 Arby’s Foundation National Restaurant Fundraiser, where guests can make in-restaurant donations to support the Arby’s Foundation and its mission to end childhood hunger in partnership with No Kid Hungry.
A $1 donation can provide up to 10 nutritious meals for children in need. Guests who donate $1 or more at participating Arby’s restaurants receive a pin-up card to sign and hang on the walls of the restaurant to show their support. As a thank you for their donations, guests who make a donation of $1 or more also receive a coupon for a free small shake or turnover on their next visit.
“Childhood hunger is a serious issue in our country, one that affects 16 million kids annually,” said Paul Brown, CEO, Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc. “Yet most of us don’t realize it is happening in our own communities every day, which is why we are working diligently this year to increase awareness and raise funds to end childhood hunger in America.”
Since 2011, the fundraiser has generated more than $11 million, helping to further the impact Arby’s has made in ending childhood hunger. Nationally, in partnership with No Kid Hungry, these funds have helped connect kids struggling with hunger with more than 345 million additional meals.
The Arby’s Foundation is currently wrapping up School’s Out, Food’s In, a summer meals program aimed to support children who struggle to find meals when free/reduced school lunches are not available. The summer initiative includes a meal card program that has provided access to more than 1.6 million free lunches since May. The Arby’s Foundation has set a goal of providing 50 million additional summer meals by 2017 to help combat the summer hunger gap.
“Ending childhood hunger is a winnable challenge, but it takes dedicated corporations, policy makers, non-profits and individual citizens to come together and make it a reality,” said Kate Atwood, executive director of the Arby’s Foundation. “Team members from our Support Center in Atlanta and from restaurants across the country have volunteered at meal sites and distributed meal cards to support our School’s Out, Food’s In program this summer. We’re excited to use that same collaborative approach during this year’s National Restaurant Fundraiser to produce our most successful fundraiser to date.”
