Domestic violence is a pervasive and insidious problem in American society, with one in four women experiencing physical violence and roughly four million women battered each year. A study conducted by the National Census of Domestic Violence Services found that in one 24-hour period on September 15, 2011, 866 victims came seeking help statewide.
The current elephant poaching crisis costs African countries around USD $25 million annually in lost tourism revenue, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Communications. Comparing this lost revenue with the cost of halting declines in elephant populations due to poaching, the study determines that investment in elephant conservation is economically favorable across the majority of African elephants’ range.

The students of The Cinema School, the nation's first film high school founded in 2009 by 21CF-supported Ghetto Film School (GFS) in partnership with the New York City Department of Education, also got a chance to hear about what it will take for humans to live on Mars.

According to CECP’s report on trends in corporate societal engagement, Giving in Numbers: 2016 Edition, the percentage of companies offering pro bono services in the US increased from 43% in 2013 to 54% in 2015. What’s more, CECP’s report on international corporate giving – Giving Around the Globe – also found an uptick in this skills-based volunteering practice with global companies reporting a rise in pro bono opportunities from 17% to 24%.
