Louisiana Clean Fuels (LCF) announced the winners of the Louisiana Clean Fuel Leader Awards on Apr. 14 during the organization’s annual conference and expo at the Lafayette Cajundome. LCF, a designated US DOE Clean Cities Coalition, awards the top alternative fuel users in the organization’s territory each year. This year’s event hosted over 100 attendees.

In honor of Earth Day, and to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of Fox's "Independence Day," Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has partnered with Earth Day Network and Google Play to offer fans a Digital HD download of the sci-fi classic for only $.99 between Friday, April 22, and Monday, April 25. Fox's proceeds will benefit Earth Day Network's Trees for the Earth initiative, which aims to plant 7.8 billion trees over the next five years. "Independence Day: Resurgence," the sequel to "Independence Day," will arrive in theaters June 24.

Fossil fuels make up two-thirds of the approximately 1,100 gigawatts of capacity in the U.S. bulk power fleet. However last year the United States retired 14 gigawatts of fossil-fueled generation and brought 16.4 gigawatts of carbon-free generation online, with wind energy leading the mix at 8.5 gigawatts of newly installed capacity, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance. Even with low natural gas prices, new natural gas projects brought 6 gigawatts online. This is an exciting sign of a changing tide.
