Only 10 Days Left for Teachers to Enter the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest

Teachers only have 10 more days to submit their science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) ideas to the eighth annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest. Buddies for Life: Easing the Transition to UCLA

Melissa Song was born in China but moved to California when she was 5 years old and stayed in the area for college at UCLA to pursue neuroscience. Hannah Pearce was born and raised in Houston, also staying in her home state for college, at Texas A&M to pursue bioengineering. But the summer before her senior year, Hannah would go to UCLA for her Amgen Scholars research, meeting up with resident-expert Melissa. Their pairing has led to a lifelong friendship and is a defining characteristic of the Amgen Scholars Program for many participants.

Boeing Announces More Than $50 Million in Grants to Support Nonprofits Worldwide

Boeing today announced more than $50 million in grants to more than 500 nonprofit organizations across 50 countries globally. The annual contributions include a three-year commitment of more than $25 million in support of veterans’ recovery and rehabilitation programs and transition services. The charitable grants package will fund programs through 2018 and supplement an anticipated $117 million in company-wide business and employee contributions to similar causes—bringing Boeing’s total community investments to approximately $167 million this year alone.
