Your Cheat Sheet to Cisco’s 2018 Corporate Social Responsibility Report

FY18 was a significant year for CSR in many ways – Blackrock’s CEO Larry Fink came out strong in his annual letter titled, “A Sense of Purpose,” emphasizing the importance that business considers their impact on society and the environment. Companies continued to take a public stand on issues such as equality, immigration and more. At Cisco, we recognize we cannot solve the world’s problems on our own, but we have an opportunity and a responsibility to do our part. Last week we launched our 2018 Corporate Social Responsibility Report, celebrating our achievements to date as well as how we are addressing the areas where we can do more. Here are highlights from this year’s report across our three CSR pillars of People, Society and Planet; your “cheat sheet” to CSR at Cisco in FY18.

Educational and Environmental Programs Define EarthChoice Ambassadors

Educational and environmental programs took center stage for our EarthChoice Ambassadors (ECAs) in 2018, with more than 11,500 volunteer hours spent focusing on communities where we live, work and play. With nearly double the amount of volunteer hours from last year, our ECA chapters are committed to making the world a better place.

Ecolab Investing in Renewable Power Project With Clearway Energy Group

Ecolab Inc. has signed an agreement to support Clearway Energy Group’s 419-megawatt wind farm, Mesquite Star, in Fisher County, Texas. Construction of the Mesquite Star wind farm is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2019. The renewable electricity generated under Ecolab’s 100-megawatt agreement is expected to cover 100 percent of the company’s annual domestic energy use and help reduce its greenhouse gas emissions 25 percent by 2020 versus a 2015 baseline.
