Two Tons of Debris Removed from South Mississippi Waters by Employee Volunteers

For the 7th straight year, Beau Rivage volunteers celebrated Earth Day by helping cleanup Deer Island

Over 40 employees from Beau Rivage participated in this annual event, sponsored by Mississippi Power.

Deer Island, a Mississippi Coastal Preserve, is located in the Gulf of Mexico near Biloxi.

Over two tons of debris – plastic bottles, glass bottles, broken beach chairs, tents, oil cans and more – were removed from the shores of Deer Island.

Volunteers collect trash on Deer Island which is then brought back to shore. These simple efforts go a long way for the environment, as trash and debris can harm wildlife on the Gulf Coast.

For the 7th year in a row, employee volunteers Beau Rivage spent their Earth Day, cleaning up Deer Island. The team, along with volunteers from the Department of Marine Resources, Mississippi Power, City of Biloxi, Golden Nugget, Hard Rock and Harrah’s, removed more than 2 tons or 400 bags of debris from the island.
