Principal® Joins CRE Pledge for Action to Advance Women in Commercial Real Estate
Real estate team highlights efforts to support females in the commercial real estate industry
Des Moines, Iowa, March 30, 2022 /3BL Media/ – Principal Real Estate Investors, the real estate investment management team within Principal Global Investors®, has joined the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network’s CRE Pledge for Action ― an industry-first, CEO-driven initiative to advance women and elevate actions that encourage greater diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the commercial real estate industry. By signing on, Principal® joins more than 90 CEOs from leading commercial real estate (CRE) industry companies that have made the commitment to take action and be held accountable for implementing initiatives that advance women and DEI.
“We believe stronger business outcomes are achieved when we have diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplaces,” said Todd Everett, chief executive officer for Principal Real Estate Investors. “Joining the CRE Pledge for Action is one meaningful and actionable way to continue our efforts to help attract, retain, and advance women in our organization and in the real estate industry. As March Women’s History Month draws to a close, we encourage our peers in this industry to join us in this effort year-round.”
The CRE Pledge for Action is a commitment to six goals:
- Goal 1: Partner with CREW Network to support its mission to transform the industry by advancing women and beginning efforts now to make change.
- Goal 2: Close the compensation gap in the industry by conducting a pay equity study.
- Goal 3: Increase inclusion through senior executive sponsorship of women and/or other individuals in underrepresented groups within the company.
- Goal 4: Advance women to top roles to achieve gender diversity in leadership.
- Goal 5: Increase diversity through intentional recruiting and hiring of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Goal 6: Implement accountability strategies to measure progress.
Principal Real Estate Investors established an internal Women in Real Estate (WIRE) group in 2016, with a mission of creating development, networking, and mentorship opportunities; promoting an inclusive and diverse organizational culture; and cultivating leadership in the global real estate investment management industry. In addition, Principal Real Estate Investors supports both the Iowa Chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) and employees’ membership expenses for involvement in the organization. To support students from underrepresented populations, Principal Real Estate Investors has established a scholarship program that offers up to $7,500 per student per year, renewable for up to four years.
