One Movement, Three Ways to Give
By Cassie Bair
We have Thanksgiving. We have Black Friday. We have Cyber Monday. And now we have #GivingTuesday.
On Tuesday November 27, 2012, charities, families, businesses and individuals are coming together to transform the way people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. It’s a simple idea driving a national movement.
People give in three ways – they give time, they give resources and they give money. The easiest way to reach your supporters about how to give is through mobile. Why? Because they can take action immediately – no matter where they are, who they are with or what they want to give.
Do you need volunteers or want to institute a day of service on #GivingTuesday? Text out a link to a sign-up page or message supporters with a phone number to call to make their commitment.
Are you raising awareness about a community need, such as clothes, food or other in-kind donations? Activate your crowd leading up to #GivingTuesday by setting a goal you want to achieve and sharing it through your text campaign. Then ask them to forward that text message to three friends in order to help spread the word!
Trying to meet fundraising goals? Provide people an opportunity to make a text donation by simply asking them to do so – highlight making a contribution in honor of #GivingTueday and your cause.
At mGive we are changing the way people give and we are a proud supporter of #GivingTuesday. Want to learn more about the #GivingTuesday movement? Visit their website, follow the #GivingTuesday feed on Twitter or like their Facebook page.
Share your #GivingTuesday plans by leaving a comment on the mBlog!
