Norfolk Southern | Saving Energy and Costs

Eight years ago, Norfolk Southern launched a plan to upgrade energy efficiencies at offices and facilities across its 22-state system, a huge undertaking involving hundreds of locations. One key project in 2015 included an energy overhaul of its operations headquarters in Atlanta. The initiative earned NS more than $20,820 in rebates through Georgia Power’s Commercial Energy Efficiency program.
The upgrades are expected to reduce the high-rise building’s annual energy use by more than 654,000 kilowatt-hours, lowering emissions of carbon dioxide equivalents by 540 metric tons – equivalent to the typical annual energy use of more than 50 residences in the region.
