New Health Product Declaration Partnership Between SCS Global Services and ToxServices Reinforces Manufacturer Efforts to Provide Full Transparency
EMERYVILLE, Calif., May 18, 2016 /3BL Media/ - SCS Global Services (SCS), an internationally trusted leader in third-party environmental and sustainability certification, and ToxServices, a scientific consulting firm focused on toxicology and risk assessment, are pleased to announce a new partnership aimed at giving manufacturers full service support in the establishment and verification of their Health Product Declarations (HPDs). ToxServices will help manufacturers prepare and publish their HPDs using the HPD Collaborative’s online builder tool, while SCS will provide the independent verification required to validate the HPD disclosure claim.
HPDs provide a full disclosure of the potential chemicals of concern in products by comparing product ingredients to a wide variety of “hazard” lists published by government authorities and scientific associations. They are a valuable transparency tool for designers, specifiers, and building owners seeking to determine a building product’s health risks. HPDs also help building projects qualify for green building rating system credits, such as USGBC LEED, WELL Building, and ILFI’s Living Building Challenge.
