Military Spouse Spotlight: Jennifer H.
During The Home Depot Foundation’s Operation Surprise campaign, we’re celebrating our brave service men and women by spotlighting the military members in our orange family. In the coming weeks, former and active-duty military and spouses share their stories and career experiences working at The Home Depot.
Jennifer Hollenbeck is a Home Depot associate, military spouse and mother of four. While her husband serves in the Air Force, she has built a career at The Home Depot.
“My husband is an Air Traffic Controller for the Air Force, which means inconsistent schedules and a lot of time spent away,” says Jennifer. “Home Depot leaders understand that associates have families, outside responsibilities and commitments. They work to provide associates with flexible schedules and the ability to take time off when needed.”
The Home Depot also offers military-specific assistance for associates. “I really like the benefits that Home Depot provides, such as Military Family Leave, Family CARE & Counseling and the Military Spouse Hardship Transfer Program.” The transfer program is designed specifically for military spouses and allows for much easier transitions between stores when a family receives new relocation orders.
In her Home Depot career, Jennifer has been promoted from store human resources manager to store manager, district human resources manager and now corporate field staffing manager. After wearing so many different hats in her seven years with The Home Depot, she counts Home Depot’s consistent work culture as the main draw that keeps her coming back.
“I feel like I’m a part of something special,” says Jennifer. “The culture is unlike any other, and I have incredible leaders and mentors who support and guide me. I feel that my work has purpose and meaning.”
The Home Depot is proud to employ more than 35,000 veterans and military spouses throughout the company.
