KFC franchisee Edelmira Rivera and Banco de Alimentos de Puerto Rico (The Food Bank Of Puerto Rico) partnered together to raise over $27,500 USD and donate over 8,800 pounds of food to feed hungry Puerto Ricans as part of two recent Volunteer for Hope projects. There were a total of twenty-five volunteers who collectively logged over one hundred hours as part of the franchisee’s larger effort to positively impact the community.
Founded in 1988 El Banco de Alimentos de Puerto Rico is a non-profit organization created by a group of missionaries, whose purpose is to end child hunger, and care for the sick and needy who are socioeconomically disadvantaged. El Banco de Alimentos de Puerto Rico supplies food and resources to over 400 community programs which help make an impact in over 100,000 disadvantaged Puerto Ricans lives.
Edelmira Rivera’s team’s first project with the organization was a widely publicized food drive that collected approximately 7,500 pounds of food and over $27,500 USD. The Franchise team’s second project raised around 800 pounds of food and sold 1,250 t-shirts. Thanks to our volunteer efforts we as brand and as individuals are impacting lots of people in our community and we feel good about it,” said Rivera reflecting on the team’s experience.
