BOOK IT!, the longest-running children's literacy program in the U.S., is celebrating three decades of inspiring a love of reading among young people. The program turned 30 on October 1, which is also National BOOK IT! Day in the U.S.
Since Pizza Hut partnered with educators to create the program in 1984, more than 60 million students have participated. This school year alone, BOOK IT! will foster a love of reading in 630,000 classrooms and reach 14 million children in all 50 states and thousands of communities.
To celebrate the program's 30th year, Pizza Hut US is launching an Alumni Program, a mobile App, a new custom story by award-winning author Jeff Kinney, and giving away a $30,000 college plan to one BOOK IT! student.
