At General Motors, we operate global engineering centers and R&D labs around the world and collaborate with academia, suppliers and start-ups to identify and develop new clean technologies that are reinventing the automobile.

GM Ventures, the venture capital arm of General Motors, was named Corporate Investor of the Year in the fifth annual Global Cleantech 100 list and report, which recognizes the 100 most promising and innovative companies most likely to make a significant market impact over the next five to ten years.

The award is given to the corporate investor with the largest percentage of its cleantech venture portfolio in the 2013 Global Cleantech 100.

Envia SystemsProterra and RelayRides were the GM Ventures portfolio companies that made this year’s list. Additionally, GM Ventures made another undisclosed investment in a company that was included in the Cleantech 100. We also engage with partners like ChargePoint who share our commitment to advancing sustainable transportation and technologies related to the greening and electrification of vehicles.

Earlier this year, the Clean Energy Patent Growth Index of U.S. Patents ranked GM second of all companies in terms of most U.S. clean-energy patents granted since 2002. Additionally, the Patent Board has ranked us as the No. 1 innovator of 182 companies in its quarterly automotive and transportation scorecard for the last nine consecutive quarters.

By investing in clean technologies, we are investing in a more sustainable future.
