CurrentState Sustainability Audit to Include EPEAT Imaging Equipment and Television Standards
TULSA, Okla., February 13, 2013 /3BLMedia/- Caelus today announced that all versions of their CurrentState™ Sustainability Audit will be updated to include the newest EPEAT® standards for greener electronics. The EPEAT registry’s Imaging Equipment standard, publicly unveiled today in Washington DC, will be added to CurrentState™ immediately. EPEAT’s Television standard will be added to CurrentState™ as soon as it is released later this year.
CurrentState™ delivers a comprehensive review of the sustainability practices of an organization. CurrentState™ is based on Caelus’s Three Tiers of Sustainability framework. The framework organizes sustainability into 3 main categories (Green IT, Business and Facilities) and more than 20 additional sub-categories. The audit’s Findings Report includes specific quick wins, recommendations and analysis of each category.
EPEAT is the definitive global registry for greener electronics. The registry includes the most products from the broadest range of manufacturers and spans the widest array of countries. EPEAT currently rates PCs, Displays and “Imaging Equipment,” a category that includes printers, copiers, multifunction devices and other imaging products. The EPEAT registry will expand later this year with the addition of a Television category. Server standards are also under development.
The EPEAT rating system takes into account strict and comprehensive criteria for design, production, energy use and recycling. Manufacturers pay an annual fee to register products in EPEAT based on their revenues from the relevant device categories. Manufacturers’ claims are subject to ongoing and independent verification to ensure the registry’s integrity.
EPEAT is managed by the Green Electronics Council, a nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon USA. The Green Electronics Council brings global stakeholders together to build capacity and identify goals for managing the lifecycle of electronic products to improve their environmental and social performance.
