Samsung Solve for Tomorrow

Since 2004, Samsung’s education programs have contributed more than $13 million in technology to more than 500 public schools in the U.S. In 2010, Samsung unveiled a new contest initiative called Solve for Tomorrow to foster more enthusiasm in STEM education. Together with industry and NGO partners, the Solve for Tomorrow contest uses technology as a motivator to raise awareness and interest in STEM learning among teachers and students.

The national education contest reaches students in grades 6-12 through school-based model that encourages students to combine their creativity and STEM knowledge to become the innovators of tomorrow by asking them to answer this challenge: Show how STEM can be applied to help improve your local community.

The $2 million contest is open to all public school teachers and students in the U.S. Five schools per state are selected as State Finalists, winning two tablets each, and out of those schools, one winner from each state receives a Samsung camcorder, laptop and Adobe editing software to compete in the video phase of the contest. Fifteen finalists chosen from that pool, win additional prizes in technology and the opportunity to be chosen as one of five grand prize winners - three by a panel of judges, one by Samsung employees, one by public online voting.

Today, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. announced the 10 national finalists in the 8th annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest, a nationwide competition that challenges students in grades 6-12 to creatively use STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) skills to address real-world issues and inspire change in their local communities. The 10 national finalists in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest will receive a minimum of $50,000* in Samsung technology for their school and a trip to the final pitch event in New York City.

51 Schools Named State Winners in Samsung’s $2 Million* National STEAM Contest
Samsung Electronics America, Inc. has announced the 51 state winners in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest – a nationwide competition that challenges students to creatively use STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) skills to address real-world issues and inspire change in their local communities. Only 10 Days Left for Teachers to Enter the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest
Teachers only have 10 more days to submit their science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) ideas to the eighth annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest. Now through Thursday, November 9, Samsung is calling on teachers to apply to the competition by briefly describing how their students can use STEAM to address a real-world problem in their community, for a chance to win a share of $2 million* in technology and other prizes.
