KIRO7 and the Trust for Public Land Announce Mark Boyar as Seattle’s 2017 Cox Conserves Hero

KIRO 7, and The Trust for Public Land, today named Mark Boyar as Seattle’s 2017 Cox Conserves Hero. Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, Boyar’s nonprofit beneficiary, will receive $10,000. Boyar was among the three finalists who were nominated by the public then chosen by local judging panels to compete in an online vote for the title of Seattle’s Cox Conserves Hero.

Women continue to serve as pioneers in sustainability, leading the way through advocacy and implementation. The Cox Conserves Sustainability Survey (CCSS), which focused on small and medium-sized business owners (SMBs), found that 42 percent of female-run SMBs are committed to increasing sustainable business practices versus 35 percent of male-run SMBs. Women recognize sustainability as an important part of running a business.

Aramark Reports Progress on Sustainable Seafood Sourcing Goals

As a responsible participant in the world’s seafood supply chain, Aramark (NYSE: ARMK), a global provider of dining solutions to businesses, schools, universities, hospitals and stadiums, is making significant progress toward its 2018 commitment to purchase 100% of its U.S. contracted seafood from sources that meet Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program recommendations. Today, 90% of the company’s frozen finfish and 100% of canned tuna purchases meet the Seafood Watch recommendations and by the end of 2018, the company expects to have transitioned all salmon and shrimp products to Seafood Watch “Best Choice” and “Good Alternative” categories.
