Our NYC-based CityEats team braved filth and cold to help clean up the hard-hit Rockaway area of the Queens borough post-Sandy.

SNI employees present donated items at the Knoxville chapter of the American Red Cross as part of its Sandy disaster relief efforts.

On the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday is today’s #Giving Tuesday™, a day that “gets out the give” and celebrates our country’s great tradition of generosity. In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, today’s #GivingTuesday is a reminder we can do tremendous good when we reach out and lift others up in dire circumstances.

Our society’s spirit of compassion and recovery runs strong here at Scripps Networks Interactive. Following Sandy, volunteers from our New York-based CityEats team braved filth and cold to help clean up the hard-hit Rockaway area of the Queens borough. The team moved tons of flood debris and made a handful of homeowners very happy. Additionally, DIY Network hosts John Desilvia and Stephen Fanuka served up Thanksgiving meals provided by Boston Market to those most affected by Sandy in partnership with Lowe’s stores in Brooklyn and Long Island respectively.
