May 2, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Scripps Networks Interactive employees and on-air hosts partnered with Comcast to support local communities on Comcast Cares Day. The annual day of giving involved more than 80,000 volunteers, and the end results created a positive impact on numerous communities across the nation. Scripps Networks Interactive brands -- HGTV, DIY and Food Network – joined in on projects in Philadelphia and Atlanta.
In Atlanta, DIY host James Young joined Comcast executives and volunteers from Comcast, Scripps Networks and 100 Black Men of Atlanta to create an outdoor classroom with benches, landscaping and a small container garden at West Manor Elementary School.
In Philadelphia, Rebuilding Together was a key partner in the Germantown Boys & Girls Club refurbishment, which resulted in numerous improvements to the space, including a fully functional art room. HGTV’s Tiffany Brooks was one of the 250 volunteers at the event. She inspired, she painted and she helped fellow volunteers Henry Ahn, EVP of Content Distribution for Scripps Networks Interactive, and Bill Connors, Comcast Central Division President, keep it within the lines when needed.
