CITGO Contributes Volunteer Support to Camp Aranzazu in its Fifth Annual Care Day
Volunteers from CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery returned to Camp Aranzazu in Rockport for a fifth year to assist with cleanup and other efforts on the camp’s Annual Camp Care Day. Camp Aranzazu serves children and adults with special needs and chronic illnesses through therapeutic recreation at its barrier-free facility. With more than 100 acres of land and only one full-time maintenance staff member, the camp relies heavily on volunteers.

CITGO and Women’s Shelter of South Texas Support Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Victims
Every nine seconds in the United States, a woman is assaulted or beaten, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. To raise funds to provide services to domestic violence and sexual assault victims in the Coastal Bend, CITGO Petroleum Corporation is partnering with the Women’s Shelter of South Texas to support the shelter’s 2016 Great Expectations Speaker Series Luncheon. This year’s fundraiser will feature actress and activist Kathy Najimy.

CITGO Awards Scholarships to Corpus Christi Students Poised to Become First-Generation College Graduates
Fifteen college-bound students attending high schools in the Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) were awarded the CITGO First in Family Scholarship, thanks to support from CITGO Petroleum Corporation and the Corpus Christi Education Fund (CCEF).

Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) recognized CITGO Petroleum Corporation for its commitment to supporting the next generation of engineers by honoring the company with the prestigious Friends of Engineering Award. A partner of TAMU-CC for more than 30 years, CITGO was one of three Friends of Engineering Award honorees at this year’s annual award luncheon held at the university. Award recipients are honored for their outstanding achievements in support of the School of Engineering and Computing Science.

Incarnate Word Academy Student Receives Scholarship from CITGO Petroleum Corporation
CITGO Petroleum Corporation offered an Incarnate Word Academy (IWA) student a partial scholarship to attend the college preparatory school as part of its sponsorship of the 145th IWA Annual Gala. Funds raised from the gala are not only financing critical tuition assistance, but also help sustain IWA’s Educational Initiatives Fund, which supports enriched academic and athletic programs, facility and technology enhancements and professional development resources for teachers and other faculty members.

Marking their 10th year of service to Hans and Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge, Team CITGO volunteers from the CITGO Petroleum Corporation Corpus Christi Refinery recently took part in a cleanup day at the refuge to help beautify the park and protect critical habitats.

CITGO Renews Commitment to Moody High School, Boosting STEM Education for Corpus Christi Students
CITGO Petroleum Corporation has renewed its commitment to help students at Foy H. Moody High School in Corpus Christi prepare for futures in science, technology, mathematics and engineering (STEM). For several years, CITGO has supported education at the CITGO Innovation Academy for Engineering, Environmental & Marine Science at Moody High School, one of the highest-ranked schools in the country for STEM courses. The continued assistance from CITGO will allow the Academy to carry on offering students access to unique educational experiences – including field trips, admittance to academic competitions and conferences and educational technology and supplies – as well as professional development for teachers.

CITGO Employees Raise Funds and Awareness for the American Heart Association
According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease kills 17.3 million people every year. To help curb this statistic, volunteers from the CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery raised money for the local chapter of the American Heart Association, joining their neighbors for the 11th consecutive year in the organization’s annual Heart Walk. This event raises funds for the American Heart Association, while increasing awareness for this deadly disease.
