City of San Francisco and Friends of the Urban Forest Recognized As Champion of Trees

The Arbor Day Foundation has announced today that the City of San Francisco and the Friends of the Urban Forest have been awarded the Foundation’s Champion of Trees Award which recognizes a government entity, community-based organization or partnership among such groups that has demonstrated exemplary leadership to develop and implement new policies and practices for municipal tree planting and care, natural area stewardship or arboriculture.

The Center for Active Design is the operator of the Fitwel Certification System and is an international not-for-profit organization that was launched in 2012 by then Mayor and founder of Bloomberg L.P. Today, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. announced the 10 national finalists in the 8th annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest, a nationwide competition that challenges students in grades 6-12 to creatively use STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) skills to address real-world issues and inspire change in their local communities. The 10 national finalists in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest will receive a minimum of $50,000* in Samsung technology for their school and a trip to the final pitch event in New York City.

SC Johnson Recognized for Environmental Leadership at 7th Annual Climate Leadership Conference

SC Johnson today announced it has received a Climate Leadership Award for Excellence in Greenhouse Gas Management (GHG) Goal Setting. The company has set an aggressive goal of further reducing GHG emissions 15 percent by 2020 from the base set in 2015.
