UTC Employees Lead 2014 Green Apple Day of Service Events Around the World

• UTC employees worldwide will volunteer at service projects that enhance the environment of schools. 
• Event promotes awareness of the importance of Green schools for the health and academic success of students
• UTC is a founding sponsor of the US Green Building Council’s Center for Green Schools.

HARTFORD, Conn., Sept. 26, 2014 /3BL Media/ -- Employees from across United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) are working in their local communities to lead and volunteer in events designed to transform schools into healthy, safe and productive learning environments. Over the next few weeks, hundreds of employees in the U.S., China and India will participate in an estimated 20 projects, all part of this year's Green Apple Day of Service.

The U.S. Green Building Council's Center for Green Schools created the Green Apple Day of Service in 2012, and this marks the third year that UTC employees will participate in the event. In addition to helping provide a sustainable environment for the 25 percent of Americans who go to school every day as students, faculty, staff and administrators, their efforts also underscore the company's belief that education surrounding sustainability will accelerate green building practices.

The company's effort kicked off in Jiangxi, China with Carrier employees renovating the playground and restrooms, as well as painting school walls at the Dafan Central School. Efforts will conclude in October with a clean-up activity at the Government Model Primary School in Bangalore, China. Other events include:  

·         Sept. 18 -- Chula Vista, California: UTC Aerospace Systems volunteers plant vegetables in garden beds at Fred H. Rohr Elementary School.

·         Sept. 23 – Cromwell, Connecticut: UTC Building & Industrial Systems volunteers raised awareness of reducing, reusing and recycling through painting projects with students at Adelbrook School.

·         Sept. 26 – Hartford, Connecticut: UTC corporate volunteers plant autumn flowers and spring bulbs at Naylor School.

·         Sept. 27 – Charlotte, North Carolina: UTC Aerospace Systems volunteers will be painting at the Westerly Hills Academy.

·         Oct. 1 – Syracuse, New York: Carrier employees will teach students about recycling at Seymour Dual Language Academy.
