Use Business Sustainability for Small Businesses to Score Contracts with Big Companies

Part of a growing sustainable business trend is the coupling of large and small businesses uniting for the greater good for both business and the environment.

As a small business, what are the available means for securing contracts with larger organizations?  Traditional methods have proven to be long and cumbersome.  What about leveraging sustainable business strategies as a new approach to engaging and working with larger organizations?  As mentioned in our sustainable business programs, there are small business resources and methods available to uniquely differentiate your business:   Research the sustainable business strategy of the organization.  Spend time reading and understanding the sustainable business strategies of the company.  Visit the company website.  Do they have a sustainability report?  What are their goals to reduce carbon? Energy?  When approaching the organization, illustrate how your product/ service demonstrates sustainable leadership in your space and how that ties with these sustainability efforts of their organization.   Build relationships.  Use twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn as a means to connect, share, engage and deepen the relationship.  Does the business have a blog?  Comment on it leaving relevant and thoughtful comments illustrating shared values.   Highlight your sustainable business strategies.  What eco actions have you taken?  What is unique to your business?  Are there special ways in which you are engaging stakeholders?
