U.S. Chamber Foundation and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Seek Nominations to Recognize Healthy Communities and Businesses

WASHINGTON, October 20, 2016 /3BL Media/ - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation today opened the nomination process for the Health Means Business Healthy10 Awards. The inaugural awards program will honor ten businesses or partnerships that work to improve community wellness through greater economic opportunity.

“All across the United States, communities are coming together and forming innovative, collaborative solutions to the health problems we face,” said Marc DeCourcey, senior vice president for the U.S Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center.  “We encourage businesses and partnerships of all sizes to submit a nomination for their work building healthier communities."

The Healthy10 Awards will include three award categories: Healthy Community, Healthy Education and Workforce, and Healthy Environment. Three award winners will be selected per category, and one will be honored as the Health Means Business Partnership of the Year. Nominations are open to businesses and cross-sector partnerships, as long as one member of the partnership represents the business community (i.e. small- and medium-sized business, corporations, trade associations, or chamber of commerce).

The awards are part of the Health Means Business campaign, which is led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The campaign works with local and regional chambers of commerce across the country to foster strong business engagement in the wellness of our nation’s communities. 

“We know that it takes all sectors of a community to build a culture of health,” said Marjorie Paloma, director for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. “Through the Healthy10 Awards, we hope to shine a light on businesses and partnerships that are on the forefront of these efforts.”

The Healthy10 Awards Celebration will be held in conjunction with the Health Means Business National Summit at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
