Twinings Demonstrates How It Is Improving the Quality of Life in Tea Communities in Its 2016 Social Impact Report
UK-based international tea brand Twinings publishes its 2016 Social Impact Report which brings to life the stories of the people behind a cup of tea, from Chrissy, a smallholder tea farmer in Malawi, and Khiyoli, a young girl living on a tea estate in Assam, to Shankar, who works in a factory in Delhi.
The report covers Twinings’ ethical sourcing and sustainability work between September 2014 and September 2016. It lays out their exciting new Sourced with Care programme, which starts with the needs of the people on the ground in Twinings’ supply chain, before developing tailored approaches and working in partnership with others to bring about sustainable change.
The report demonstrates how the impetus behind Sourced with Care comes right from the top of the business, with the CEO Bob Tavener outlining Twinings’ vision of a better tea industry for all. It follows the three focus areas of Sourced with Care – Livelihoods, Life Opportunities and Living Standards – and sets out why these issues are important, what Twinings has already been doing about them and what it aims to do going forward.
Twinings has set itself the goal of impacting half a million lives by 2020 through its Sourced with Care programme; it has already reached over 130,000 lives. You can read all about how in the full report.
