Toyota Gives New 2014 Prius to East Texas Food Bank

Almost all vehicle manufacturers have a philanthropic program of some sort or other to provide vehicles to worthy non-profit organizations. Toyota is one of those that seem to make the news a little more often. They call their annual program 100 Cars For Good and as part of that initiative, a vehicle was furnished to the East Texas Food Bank.

Classic Toyota of Tyler was the setting in mid-January for the presentation of a new 2014 Toyota Prius to help fight hunger in East Texas. The car was one of 100 Toyota vehicles that will be given away by the automaker in the next 50 days to 100 different non-profit groups. The 100 Cars For Good is designed to touch lives that need help as well as engage the communities and the public in helping make the award. Toyota seeks 'votes' from the public in the decision making.

The national voting took place in October of 2013 with the program profiling five different finalists each day. Then the public could go to the internet at www.100CarsForGood.com and let their own voices be known as to which group could probably do the most good and reach the most people with the new vehicles. The top two 'winners' each day received one of five models from Toyota and the runners-up received a $1000 cash grant.
