Timberland recently celebrated 128 global headquarters employees who served all of their available volunteer hours in 2018.  Through the brand’s Path of Service™ program, employees are given up to 40 paid hours each year to serve in the community.  Those who serve all of their available hours earn membership in the highly-coveted “40s Club.”

In recognition of their commitment to community, 40s Club members worldwide receive a certificate and limited-edition pin.  Employees of the brand’s global headquarters in Stratham NH are also invited to a celebratory breakfast.  At the annual breakfast, the service champions are recognized by senior leaders, review their year of service, and have the opportunity to win raffle prizes.

This year, 36% of Timberland’s Stratham employee population earned membership in the club.  Among the 128 honorees were nine members of Timberland’s senior leadership team, including global brand president, Jim Pisani.  “This year’s robust 40’s Club membership shows how service is an essential part of our brand and employee culture,” said Pisani. “The employees who make the extra effort to engage in their communities around the globe demonstrate what a unique opportunity we have to make a difference.  Community service positively impacts the community, our employees, and our business and we look forward to exploring even more ways to give back in the future.”

“The 40s Club program and breakfast are an important part of our service program,” said Jason Blades, Timberland’s community service manager.  “Public recognition of our service champions reinforces our culture of service every year and gives employees something to strive for. It even takes on a fun competitive edge at times; you can really see the pride in the people who make the Club.”

The 40s Club was first launched in 2007 at Timberland’s Distribution Center in Danville, Kentucky which boasts the highest service participation rates of any Timberland location worldwide. (In 2018 Danville’s 88 employees served 77% of their available service hours with 98% of employees serving at least once during the year.) Danville’s Global Steward presented the 40s Club as a best practice to the full Global Stewards team at their 2008 annual meeting and the Stewards launched the program globally in 2009.
