Three Tweets to Try Today

We all get into Twitter ruts. Another link to an article about why your company should be a good corporate citizen? Your follows would love to see that for the twelfth time this week.

Of course, consistent content is great. That doesn’t mean you can’t shake things up for your followers and yourself. Twitter is a fantastic tool for exchanging information and meeting new professionals, and you should utilize it to its full potential.

1. Outreach

Articles are fantastic sources of information, but think about how much more effectively communicated that information could be through a dialogue. If you read a great article on volunteerism, why not reach out to the author on Twitter with a question or comment? If you get a back and forth going with the author, then your followers are getting a much more authentic look at your thoughts. Even better, they may join the conversation.

As the conversation evolves to bring in more people, you may be surprised at the connections you make.

2. Live Stream

Get on the Periscope train and share your experiences as they happen. If you’re in an awesome session at a conference (perhaps ACCP: The Conference 2016?), use Periscope to live stream it straight to your followers. Pro tip: check out the conference’s media policy - some may not want you to share video of the content.

Another activity you should share is your volunteer events. Live stream portions of your team throughout the day. This not only shows your followers how you’re involved in the community, but it also lets employees who can’t be there tune into the fun.

For the day-to-day, give an explanation of what you’re working on currently. As you know, not everyone knows what corporate responsibility professionals do. This is a fun and easy way to share.

3. Quick Tips

You should share what you know. If you know the best way to kick start your morning, let everyone know (in 140 characters or less). At least one person will appreciate your insight.

On the other hand, maybe you’re in need of some life hacks. Ask your followers for their best tips on how to prepare for a site visit or how to find a strong community partner. One of your best resources is your peers.
