Techstars Atlanta: Get to Know Sequr

Techstars Atlanta, in partnership with Cox Enterprises, selected 10 companies to participate in the program's 2016 class. Applications for the 10 coveted spots came from around the globe, including 69 countries and six continents.

Sequr is one of the 10 participants. Sequr is the first-ever visitor management system for communities using call boxes. They increase security by replacing permanent PIN codes with dynamic, time-sensitive PIN codes. The best thing about Sequr? They can do remote setup on any callbox anywhere in the world.

What excites you about Techstars?

Being able to surround ourselves with some of the best up-and-coming talent, while having access to amazing mentors is an unbeatable combination.

How did you hear about Techstars?

Who hasn’t heard of Techstars?! We first came across Techstars when some founders of another company told us about the program and their experiences in Boulder.

What do you hope to learn/take away from Techstars Atlanta?

We want to grow personally as entrepreneurs, while laying a foundation of knowledge and skills to scale our company.

How did you come up with the idea for your company?

I grew up in a community with a callbox and absolutely hated that thing. That led us to get into the access control industry, which opened our eyes to how underserved the market was in terms of modern technology.

Are there any entrepreneurs or business leaders who inspire you?

David Cummings (we’re biased, he’s an investor), Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey and Travis Kalanick

What did you know about Atlanta before relocating for the program?

We’re based here, and one of us grew up here.

What’s the one piece of technology or app that you can’t live without?

Twitter and Uber
