Team AkzoNobel Enters 2017/2018 Volvo Ocean Race
The team AkzoNobel partnership reflects AkzoNobel’s long association with the sea through supplying advanced marine coatings.
The World's Toughest Sailing Race
The Volvo Ocean Race is the world’s leading offshore sailing competition. The race will stop in 11 cities around the world and will cross four oceans: the Atlantic, Southern, Indian and Pacific Oceans. At around 45,000 nautical miles, the 2017/2018 edition will be contested as the longest distance in the race's history.
Color and Inspiration
The race will finish in the Netherlands at Scheveningen in The Hague. Scheveningen's famous pier will be the colorful backdrop for the dramatic finish. Fifty of its pillars were recently given a fresh coat of paint by AkzoNobel to provide essential protection against the harsh elements and brighten up the seaside landscape. It took ten painters just over one week to finish the job, and they used 20 different colors.
The Volvo Ocean Race will present us with many other opportunities to make people’s lives more liveable and inspiring.
2017/2018 Route
The world famous race will stop in 11 cities, which are called Host Ports. The Host Ports for the 2017/2018 edition are: Alicante, Lisbon, Cape Town, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Auckland, Itajaí, Newport, Cardiff, Gothenburg and The Hague.
