Signaling Demand and the Future of Work: Trends, Tools and Tactics to Address the Youth Skills Gap
Making Cents International and PYXERA Global to host in-person dialogue at Global Youth Economic Opportunities Summit
WASHINGTON, D.C., September 27, 2017 /3BL Media/ - PYXERA Global and Making Cents International are teaming up to co-host an intimate gathering of companies, governments, and vocational providers entitled, “Signaling Demand & The Future of Work: Trends, Tools and Tactics to Address the Youth Skills Gap.” Attendees will join this smaller invite-only group to discuss solutions they have seen in their experience hosting and facilitating global programming to close the youth skills gap.
The future of work is changing, and young people in developing contexts are especially vulnerable to labor market fluctuations. The rise of technology and new digital innovations change the face of work, education and training is constantly challenged to evolve and inabilities to stay current creates a gap between what youth are taught and skills employers need.
The event will preface Making Cents International’s Global Youth Economic Opportunities Summit, which brings together implementers, policymakers, companies, youth leaders and educators working to expand youth economic opportunities.
PYXERA Global has identified the youth skills gap as a solvable problem that can be addressed through collaboration amongst the public, private, and social sectors—a tri-sector approach. Recently, PYXERA Global published a publication on innovative ways to close the skills gap entitled, “The Skills Mismatch: Approaching a Collective Strategy.” This publication, available to view and download on the PYXERA Global website, is a guide on how to approach collaborative action to addressing the skills gap challenge, with ideas from the Global Engagement Forum: Live working groups synthesized by RTI International’s Global Center in Youth Employment and PYXERA Global.
