NC State Partnership Aims to Reduce $13B Medicaid Bill

In health care, a vexing problem for providers has long been that a small number of patients account for a large portion of overall spending.
That's true in North Carolina's Medicaid program as well, but a new partnership aims to predictively identify those high-cost patients and through early interventions reduce the ultimate cost incurred by those patients.
The partnership will see Community Care of North Carolina (CCNC), a group that already saves Medicaid about $250 million per year, work with N.C. State's Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE), which can build predictive models and give CCNC better tools in analyzing Medicaid populations...
