NAEM to Host Conservation Work Day at EHS Management Forum in Charlotte

September 1, 2015 /3BL Media/ - NAEM members will have the chance to put their environmental expertise to work at this year’s EHS Management Forum on Oct.14-16 in Charlotte, NC, through an ecosystem restoration project along the shores of Lake Wylie. 

NAEM Deputy Director Virginia Hoekenga, who leads the Forum development committee, said adding a volunteer activity to the conference agenda was a natural fit with the values of the EHS and sustainability professional community.

“For more than twenty years, our members have been actively working behind the scenes in their companies to promote environmental stewardship,” Ms. Hoekenga said. “This opportunity is a chance for our organization to strengthen our relationships to one another and to the natural world.”  

Organized by the Carolina Thread Trail, NAEM volunteers will be assisting with invasive species eradication along a 2.8-mile stretch of the Seven Oaks Preserve Trail, which runs along Charlotte’s Lake Wylie, its main source of drinking water. The two-hour activity will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 13 starting at 1:00 p.m.

NAEM’s annual Forum is the largest annual gathering of environment, health and safety (EHS) and sustainability decision-makers. This year, the association expects to welcome more than 550 attendees to Charlotte, NC for three days of interactive dialogues and case study presentations on leading practices in EHS and sustainability management.
