MEDIA ALERT: The Mini-Internship: Samsung Takes an Innovative Approach to the Internship for High School and College Students in NYC
July 19, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Samsung Electronics America is redesigning the summer internship. Bypassing work plans and coffee runs, the Mini-Internship is a shortcut to one of the key benefits of a traditional program – access to industry leaders. Instead of one intern filling one position, the program is an open forum for many students. Hosted at Samsung 837, the series will connect high school and college students with some of the best and brightest from a variety of fields.
Going beyond tech, the series will feature professionals like Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee, Iron Chef David Burke and NBC’s Today show host Billy Bush. Speakers will share their personal stories of their journeys to success, lessons they learned along the way and advice they have for young people. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and engage in discussion. The program, with support of the Meatpacking Business Improvement District, aims to help local students bolster their career preparation by offering a fun, alternative way they can get an interactive and informative experience.
This week will focus on culture and education. Speakers include the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Sarah Higby, deputy chief development officer for corporate programs, and Kevin Park, senior design manager, as well as the American Museum of Natural History’s Bella Desai, director of public programs and exhibition education.
