Kenneth Cole And Adriana Lima Help Raise More Than $60,000 For The St. Luke Foundation For Haiti
New York, December 12, 2013 /3BL Media/ – On December 10, designer and social activist Kenneth Cole co-hosted a fundraising event for the St. Luke Foundation For Haiti, with Adriana Lima raising more than $60,000. Attendee’s such as Donna Karan and Paul Haggis helped raised funds to support the Foundations programs, which focus on providing medical care, education, humanitarian aid, and employment opportunities to the least served Haitian communities.
Hosted at Kenneth Cole’s new space “The Garage”, the event celebrated two Haitian Heroes, Esther Desire and Raphael Louigene for their outstanding work with St Luke Foundation for Haiti, providing education and medical care to the least served populations in Haiti.
The St. Luke Foundation, a Haitian run organization, provides education, medical care and dignified humanitarian outreach to over 150,000 people per year through key programs employing over 900 Haitians. In 2012 in partnership with the St. Luke Foundation For Haiti, Cole opened the Kenneth Cole Haiti Health Center (KCHHC) at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cite Soleil – one of the most challenging and underserved areas in the Western Hemisphere-- providing disease prevention, treatment, and education to the local community by empowering Haitian leadership.
The partnership between St. Luke Foundation and Kenneth Cole in the opening the KCHHC at St. Mary’s Hospital was part of Cole’s ongoing disaster relief efforts in Haiti. Following the 2010 earthquake, 3.5 million people suffered serious physical, emotional, and medical challenges. Immediately following this earthquake, Kenneth Cole Productions organized a shoe drive for those affected and communicated a message of support via a billboard campaign. In October 2012, Kenneth Cole and 16 associates traveled to Haiti to volunteer and launch a community building initiative on the ground.
