How Nutrition for Zero Hunger is Working Toward Zero Empty Plates
How Herbalife Nutrition’s Social Impact Initiative Nutrition for Zero Hunger is Supporting UNSDG Zero Hunger Goal
Currently 2 billon people worldwide do not have regular access to sufficient, nutritious food. According to the United Nations’ State of Food Insecurity 2020 report, rates of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition are rising, in the past five years, more than 60 million more people are food insecure. In addition, the global pandemic has escalated the impact further, leaving many communities vulnerable to hunger. The pandemic will add as many as 132 million more people to the total number of the world’s hungry in 2020 alone.
Solutions to these mounting challenges are critical, including the need to promote access and behaviors for sustainable healthy diets, needs for education on healthy foods and addressing how to adapt global food systems to meet these needs.
Our Nutrition for Zero Hunger initiative is part of the solution and our global commitments are poised to make a greater impact more than ever before. We are working alongside leading nonprofit partners such as Feed the Children, The Hunger Project and more. Through Nutrition for Zero Hunger, we have worked with more than 10 leading organizations who are supporting more than 114 million people in over 120 countries worldwide. Ongoing collaboration with nonprofit partners emphasizes our leadership in nutrition, not only through our contributions, but through alignment around nutrition capacity building, education and training needs and opportunities to mobilize our global community.
