(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) San Diego, CA - September 8, 2011 - The global challenge of wastewater treatment is increasingly crucial as populations and resource pressures grow. To help solve this problem, Global 8 Environmental Technologies Inc. (PINKSHEETS: GBLE) has signed a letter of intent to collaborate with TecSul Projetos e Agronegócios of Concórdia, SC, Brazil on the adoption of innovative wastewater treatment technology.
Wastewater from sewage, industry, and agriculture that is not treated properly is a significant health risk that contaminates fresh water supplies, and produces greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. According to UNESCO at World Water Week in 2011, over 2 million tons of waste from sewage, industrial sources and agriculture are discharged without treatment every day. Many rapidly developing countries and even developed countries need greater adoption of innovative wastewater treatment technology. The systems developed by Tecsul in Brazil provide key technology for sustainable waste treatment and energy production needed not just in Brazil but Africa and other regions throughout the world. One wastewater treatment technology that Global 8 plans to help commercialize can be found in the Tratecsul project in Brazil being led by Mr. Marcus Cazarré., Municipal wastewater is treated using an innovative regulation-compliant process that produces methane for energy as well as high quality soil amendments. The revenue from the products can fund water treatment and other projects, turning wastewater treatment into a profit generating opportunity. Another TecSul project, the Energiclean project is a highly efficient an inexpensive way to treat wastewater from many sources, produces 400 tons of dry matter/hectare/year, and produces energy as well.. The small power generators are flexible in scale, and, depending on where the systems are installed, can generate carbon credits as they reduce global greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with programs such as the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) included in the Kyoto Protocol. Sugarcane waste is an additional challenge and opportunity in Brazil. Large quantities of sugarcane are grown in Brazil to make ethanol, making the country a global leader in biofuels. After fermentation the fibrous waste called bagasse, or vinasse, is left over and has often been a major environmental concern, but in the Tecsul Project, the vinasse can be treated by microbes in a digester, producing methane that is burned for energy. According to Mr. Cazarré, Brazil holds opportunities for 500 plants with a combined capacity to generate 1300 MW of electricity, generating significant revenue while removing vinasse and other agricultural waste as well. The company also has technology to treat wastewater from urban areas, producing energy and agricultural products. Marcus Cazarré has extensive experience in the innovative treatment of agricultural waste in Brazil and other countries in the region He has developed these projects and technologies and is a scientific and industrial leader in this important field.. Mr. Cazarré has consulted with many leading companies involved in Brazilian agribusiness, has contributed to the scientific and commercial development of anaerobic digester technology, and is the author of several scientific manuscripts related to water treatment. Global 8 will facilitate the funding, business development and technology implementation for these projects, anticipated to produce a sound rate of return for investors in addition to helping communities. By identifying new customers and helping these technologies to be commercialized, both Global 8 and Tecsul will benefit from sales and growth.
