From Fuel Economy to Forward-Thinking, 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Delivers In Every Aspect

When it comes to fuel economy, you usually don’t find sports car buyers worrying about how many miles they can get on a tank of gas. They just want something that rides fast and looks good on the open road, like the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

But the numbers continue to show us that fuel economy is at the top of the list for potential car buyers, which is why thinking about fuel economy goes into every car we design.

Even the high-performance models.

The Stingray gets an EPA-estimated 29 miles per gallon on the highway and, while we will be the first to admit this is not going to lead to huge savings at the pump, it does give our more environmentally-conscious Vette fans a greener option.

Customers now have the option to select “Eco” mode, a transmission that delivers 30mpg highway and Active Fuel Management, which disables four of its eight cylinders for improved fuel economy.

And these numbers lap the field.

It’s a testament to the designers of the car, as well as the people who build it at ourBowling Green Assembly plant, which just so happens to be one of our “greener” facilities.

Two years ago, Bowling Green beefed up its environmental commitment with the opening of a new 75-acre wildlife habitat featuring a 1.5 mile walking trail and 42,000 pounds of recycled shredded organic mats from the plant that provide ground cover for the picnic area.

Additionally, the plant has participated in more than 20 events aimed at increasing community awareness about the environment.

And when the Stingray rolls off the assembly line, the workers slap an Ecologic stickeron the window that tells our environmentally conscious drivers the environmental story about car they’ve purchased, including aspects related to vehicle manufacturing, lighter weight components and vehicle recyclability.

We understand our fans are our fans because of our great products.

The Stingray is an example of both: A fan favorite on the road that has its own sustainability chapter in our never-ending sustainability story.
