Join The Natural Step Canada to learn more about Embedding Sustainability into the Culture of Municipal Government and to explore how you can assess your municipal government’s sustainability efforts. This workshop is designed for municipal staff members who are responsible for integrating sustainability into their municipal governments.

During this half day workshop you will:
  • Receive an overview of the portfolio approach to embedding sustainability into the culture of municipal government.

  • Hear some of the innovative “best” and “next” sustainability practices municipal governments are working on.

  • Learn how to conduct an assessment of your municipal government’s sustainability activities.

  • Discuss and share your ideas and challenges on embedding sustainability into municipal culture with colleagues grappling with similar issues.

The workshop is free for municipal staff and space is limited.

  • Date/time: March 7, 2012, 8:30am-12:00pm, EST

  • Location: Vaughan City Hall, Multi-Purpose Room (below council chambers on the main floor), 2141 Major Mackenzie Drive, Vaughan, ON (map)

Over the past year, The Natural Step Canada, in collaboration with Dr. Stephanie Bertels and the Network for Business Sustainability, conducted research on the activities municipal governments are working on to embed sustainability into their organizational culture. We’ve worked hard to create a useful resource and assessment tool for municipal governments. You can download a free copy of our report: Embedding Sustainability into the Culture of Municipal Government.

A culture of sustainability is one in which organizational members hold shared assumptions and beliefs about what sustainability means for their organization, where they are in relation to that, and what they are doing to bridge that gap.   Please apply by registering online and we will respond to confirm your participation.   If you have any questions please contact John Purkis at jpurkis@naturalstep.ca.   Our supporters and partners We’d like to extend our gratitude to our supporters and partners for their contributions to the Embedding Sustainability into the Culture of Municipal Government project.
