A Decade of Impact: Bloomberg LP Improves Energy Efficiency by 45%, Avoids Using More Than 1 Million Metric Tonnes of CO2 Emissions
Bloomberg LP’s sustainable business practices have improved the company’s energy efficiency by 45% since 2008, avoiding more than 1 million metric tonnes of CO2e emissions, according to the company’s 10th annual Impact Report released today. Bloomberg is on target to reach 35% renewable energy use in 2020, continuing on its path of 100% renewable energy by 2025.

Since Its 2018 Edition, Our Gender-Equality Index Is Sector Neutral, Welcoming Participation from Companies in All Industries
In May 2016, we launched the Bloomberg Financial Services Gender-Equality Index (BFGEI), a first-of-its-kind reference index measuring the gender equality performance of global financial services companies. The index recognizes member firms’ commitment to disclosure and best-in-class policies and practices, providing investors with valuable data on internal company statistics, employee policies, gender-conscious product offerings and external community engagement.

Around the World, Bloomberg Employee Volunteers Are Sustaining and Strengthening the Environment
As part of our legacy of connecting with and protecting nature around the world, Bloomberg employees are dedicated to restoring our local green spaces and engaging as local stewards in the communities where we have offices. Last year, our employees volunteered over 12,000 hours in environmental stewardship efforts in local communities, planted more than 73,000 trees and plants, cleaned 75 local parks and waterways, and collected over 565,000 pounds of garbage and mulch. Bloomberg's Data Center in Upstate NY Has a Rainwater Capture System That Saves Us 5 Million Gallons of Water Annually
Bloomberg is always looking for opportunities to reduce water-consumption in our facilities. We used an estimated 122 million gallons of water in 2017, largely driven by our employees and building operations. Accurately quantifying the scale of our global water consumption has proven challenging, but that has not deterred our global water-reduction strategy.

Bloomberg Provides ESG Data to Nearly 15,000 Investors on the Bloomberg Terminal
Bloomberg collects, scrubs, verifies and continually updates environmental, social and governance (ESG) data from published company disclosures on the Terminal. Currently, we provide company-reported ESG data for almost 9,500 companies in 83 countries and executive compensation data for more than 5,600 companies in 69 countries — and we’re on track to provide ESG data on 13,000 companies by the end of 2018. Investors across asset classes can dig into data on energy and emissions, waste, gender diversity on boards, independent directors, workforce accidents and more to better understand the risks and opportunities associated with potential investments and counterparties. As a Member of RE100, Bloomberg Has Pledged to Obtain 100% of Our Electricity From Renewable Sources by 2025
Bloomberg began investigating renewable energy projects in 2008; our first project, a 1.8MW solar installation in New Jersey, began providing us with energy in 2012. We currently obtain energy from five on- and off-site solar and wind sites. Our newest installation is a 5MW wind farm in Hidalgo, Texas, which started providing us with energy in 2017.
