BAYADA Home Health Care Provides Emergency-Ready Meals to Seniors Across Massachusetts
More than 8,000 Shelf-Stable Meals for Thousands of Senior Citizens
BOSTON, December 2, 2015 /3BL Media/ – BAYADA Home Health Care, a trusted leader in providing high quality home health care services at home for children and adults of all ages, has collaborated with CBS EcoMedia through its WellnessAd program to support the second annual Meals on Wheels America’s Massachusetts Emergency Relief Program.
BAYADA’s support of Massachusetts Emergency Relief Program, which started in 2014, provides seniors with access to nutritious, shelf-stable meals in the event of inclement weather or a disaster which might interrupt regular Meals on Wheels meal delivery services. BAYADA’s funding in 2015 will support eight different Meals on Wheels programs throughout Massachusetts, serving more than 2,000 seniors with approximately 8,000 meals.
Meals on Wheels America is the oldest and largest national organization composed of and representing the local, community-based senior nutrition programs that are dedicated to addressing senior isolation and hunger.. Existing in virtually every community in America, this network mobilizes two million volunteers and staff to deliver the nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks that enable seniors to live independently in their own homes.
To celebrate the launch of the second annual Massachusetts Emergency Relief Program, BAYADA Home Health Care volunteers gathered at a local Meals on Wheels Program operated by Old Colony Elder Services to hand-deliver meals to local seniors and serve a congregate lunch to residents of Belair Tower.
“We are proud to once again provide seniors with nutritious meals,” said Maureen Hixon, Regional Director at BAYADA Home Health Care. “We are committed to providing community service where we live and work—especially during this time of the year—and we’re thrilled to partner with Meals on Wheels.”
“The severe winter months intensify three of the biggest threats of aging – hunger, isolation and loss of independence,” said Ellie Hollander, Meals on Wheels America President and CEO. “We are thankful that BAYADA Home Health Care and CBS EcoMedia have come together to support Massachusetts’ homebound seniors once again this year.”
“The nutritious meals and safety checks delivered by Meals on Wheels are a critical part of the effort to keep our seniors living happily and independently at home," said Paul Polizzotto, President and Founder of CBS EcoMedia. “We’re proud to continue our collaboration with BAYADA Home Health Care to ensure that these services are available to seniors across Massachusetts, especially during the coming winter.”
