Baxter Committed to Advancing Sustainability in its Workplaces and Communities

(NYSE: BAX) has been named as one of America’s most community-minded companies by the Points of Light Foundation’s Civic 50 list, and also received recognition for its inclusion and diversity leadership by several external organizations. The company is committed to advancing sustainability in its workplaces and communities, and recently hosted a Workplace Charging for Electric Vehicles workshop for companies interested in providing electric vehicle charging stations for their employees. Additionally, Baxter’s Round Lake facility was honored with an Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award for environmental excellence.

Baxter Named to The Civic 50 List for Commitment to Community

Baxter was named as one of America’s most community-minded companies through its recent inclusion in The Civic 50, an annual initiative that identifies and recognizes companies for their commitment to improve the quality of life in the communities where they do business. Points of Light, the largest organization in the world dedicated to volunteer service, conducted the survey in partnership with Bloomberg LP. All companies with $1 billion in revenue or more can apply for The Civic 50.

Baxter Supports Workplace Electric Vehicle Charging; Receives Illinois Governor’s Award

More than 120 people from 75 organizations attended a regional Workplace Charging for Electric Vehicles workshop in October at Baxter’s Deerfield, Illinois, headquarters to learn about providing electric vehicle charging stations for their companies’ employees. The event was organized by the State of Illinois, City of Chicago, and non-profit Environmental Law & Policy Center, with assistance from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Workplace Charging Challenge.

Baxter is a signatory of the U.S. DOE’s Workplace Charging Challenge, a commitment by employers to provide plug-in electric vehicle charging access to their workforce. Baxter has four electric vehicle charging station outlets at its Deerfield headquarters, and four at its Round Lake, Illinois, facility, that are free for employee use. The company has charging stations at several facilities globally, and is adding two more outlets at its Round Lake site.

Baxter is committed to decreasing its use of natural resources, increasing the use of renewable energy and implementing other processes that further the company’s sustainability goals. Baxter’s Round Lake facility was recently honored with an Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award for the third time for its commitment to environmental excellence through innovative sustainability practices. The facility was honored for its green building design, use of renewable power and reductions in electricity use.
