A ceremonial “Power On!” event kicked off the program in style on Thursday. The celebration was held at The Rusty Scupper, with attendees including representatives from all Baltimore Area Cadillac Dealers, executives of Starlight Children’s Foundation and hospital representatives. Hosts included: Paul Polizzotto, President and Founder of CBS EcoMedia; Mark Kelley, General Sales Manager from Frankel & Chesapeake Cadillac and President of the Baltimore Area Cadillac Dealers; Judith Christian, Executive Director, Starlight Children’s Foundation MidAtlantic; and Rebecca Aune, Director of Program Development, Starlight Children's Foundation MidAtlantic.  Special guests included Patrice Brylske, CCLS, Director of Child Life Services and Jennifer Doyle, Senior Associate Director of Development, both from the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and Suzanne Boyle, Senior Director of Development, Children’s Hospital, University of Maryland Medical System Foundation, and Shannon Joslin, Child Life Manager, University of Maryland Children’s Hospital.  Former Starbright World member, Adam Hays, also attended and addressed the audience.

Prior to the “Power On!” celebration at The Rusty Scupper, Baltimore Area Cadillac Dealers and Judith Christian and Rebecca Aune from Starlight toured the University of Maryland Children's Hospital to witness how the Starlight Tablets are impacting pediatric patients and their families, and how Starlight Children’s Foundation is helping to improve the life and health of kids and families in the Baltimore area.

Baltimore Area Cadillac Dealer’s financial support delivered five Starlight Tablets to the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and 12 Starlight Tablets to the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital.  Combined, the 17 Starlight Tablets will serve more than 8,200 pediatric patients per year.

"Starlight Tablets are an essential tool for Child Life Specialists to support their patients. The Tablets allow for illness education, distractive entertainment, and an opportunity to connect to Starbright World, Starlight's social network for teens with chronic and life-threatening medical conditions," says Jacqueline Hart-Ibrahim, Global CEO of Starlight Children’s Foundation. "We are grateful to the Baltimore Area Cadillac Dealers for their generous gift and support for pediatric patients throughout the region."

“For pediatric patients and their families Starlight Children’s Foundation is a bright, shining light in what can be a dark and foreboding place,” said Paul Polizzotto, Founder and President of CBS EcoMedia.  “EcoMedia is so proud to work with Starlight as one of our premier nonprofit partners and we are especially gratified to bring Starlight together with our WellnessAd advertisers, the Baltimore Cadillac Dealers.  We know from our history together how committed Cadillac is to helping children battling life-threatening medical issues. Thanks to Cadillac’s generous and enlightened financial support, over the next twelve months, 17 new Starlight Tablets will now be available for Starlight kids as distractive entertainment, as a communication device to stay in touch with family and friends and as an education tool to learn about their illnesses and treatment.  The 8,200 plus children whose lives are touched and improved by this technology are the results of the real world quality of life improvements that our public-private partnership business model is delivering for both advertisers and nonprofits all across the country."
