Arrow Electronics’ SAM Car Spotlighted in the International Corporate Citizenship Film Festival
Arrow Electronics is showcasing its award-winning SAM Car project in the International Corporate Citizenship Film Festival. The festival, which honors excellence in corporate citizenship, relies on public voting to determine a “fan favorite” and finalists in each of its three company-size categories.
Arrow’s entry is in the Medium Companies category; “Be the Driver of Your Life: Sam Schmidt’s Family Vacation” follows former racecar driver Sam Schmidt taking his first drive in the Arrow Semi-Autonomous Motorcar, or Arrow SAM Car, with his two children when they recently vacationed in Washington, D.C. Schmidt has been paralyzed from the shoulders down since a racing accident in 2000, and he drives the Arrow-assembled SAM Car using only his head motions. While Sam has reached a top speed of 190 mph on the race track in the semi-autonomous vehicle, it’s been nearly two decades since he was in the driver’s seat taking his kids on a leisurely vacation drive.
Public voting closes on Monday, February 19, 2018. A panel of industry experts will then review the finalists, selecting one winner from each of the three company-size categories, as well as one “Best in Show” winner. Winners are announced on April 8.

Presented by the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, the International Corporate Citizenship Film Festival is the largest film festival devoted exclusively to celebrating the work of corporate social responsibility (CSR) professionals, their companies, and programs.
