Amway One by One Campaign for Children Challenges Employees and Distributors to “Commit to a Cause”
Social campaign encourages Amway distributors, employees and partners to get inspired, share stories and commit to serve
ADA, Mich., September 6, 2013 /3BL Media/ – As the Amway One by One Campaign for Children celebrates its 10 year anniversary, Amway is challenging employees and distributors to “Commit to a Cause” they are passionate about, and pledge volunteer hours toward that cause.
Amway employees and distributors are encouraged to participate in the socially-driven campaign by; 1) getting inspired by stories found at www.amwayonebyone.com and “liking” their favorites, 2) sharing photos and stories about their cause using #amwayonebyone, and 3) committing to serve their cause over the next four months. The campaign will culminate with the Amway Universal Children’s Day celebration on November 20.
As a result of this effort, Amway hopes to engage over 100,000 people worldwide to give 500,000 hours to children’s causes between July and November 2013.
“This phase of the Amway One by One Campaign for Children creates a forum for distributors and employees to engage in the creative, inspirational and transformational work being done around the globe,” said Amway Vice President Todd Woodward. “It’s an opportunity to encourage one another, learn from each other, respect one another, and believe in each other – on a global scale.”
Since the Amway One by One launched in 2003, its focus has been to help children in need. In just 10 short years, Amway distributors and employees have impacted 10 million lives by volunteering for thousands of projects, and raised $190 million for programs around the world.
“The ways that Amway distributors and employees help are as different and ingenious as the people who create them,” said Woodward. “Mobilizing people with belief in the power of human potential is the key to the Amway business model, and it is what inspires us to show support – share stories and commit to serve.”
Amway employees and distributors that have already committed to a “cause” include:
Distributors:
- In Guatemala, Amway distributors are passionate about building homes for poor families, and have built an entire neighborhood over the past few years working with Habitat for Humanity.
- In South Korea, Amway distributors have formed their own nonprofit organization and meet each month to discuss the greatest needs and where they should direct funding. They can raise more than $30,000 in a single event to support causes they choose to focus on.
- In the United States, Amway employees have "adopted" several urban schools where students need extra educational and social support. On any given week, you can find employees teaching classes, mentoring students, introducing careers and organizing activities.
- Across Europe, Amway distributors have consistently supported UNICEF as their cause of choice, raising money through walks, runs, holiday gifts and direct donations for programs that support immunizations in Kenya, self-esteem programs in Slovenia, prevention of child abandonment in Russia, building schools in Turkey, and more.
