AEP Ohio Gives Tips on Saving Money!

The summer heat has arrived and air conditioners and fans are working overtime to keep you cool.  Being energy efficient and conserving energy is important – it’s good for the environment and your wallet.  And, it’s possible to do both without compromising comfort. Here are a few tips on conserving electricity:

  • If you aren’t using it, unplug it – Home electronics, appliances and even cellular phone chargers still pull electricity when not in use. 
  • Pull the blinds down – The sun can quickly heat up a room.  Shutting your blinds helps to keep the heat out.
  • Set your thermostat to 78 degrees – A few degrees can add up to big savings on your electric bill.  Set your thermostat higher and run ceiling and box fans to circulate air.  If 78 degrees is too warm, try turning your thermostat up by three or four degrees.  Most people don’t notice the difference!
